A few weeks ago, I stumbled across a blogger making reference to "struggling with the black dog" and I was curious.  What's this guy struggling with a dog for?  Turns out that it's not Canis lupus familiaris, but rather a clolquial reference to depression.

I thought that it was novel at the time, but lately, I've been working on my own struggle with the damned dog.  Yes, I'm taking my happy-pills (Effexor and Risperidal) as prescribed, but I'm sliding... Again. 

Depression sucks, but at least I know what's going on, these days.  I didn't always know, and that was a REALLY bad time.  It sure is a hassle, though, having an exacerbation, but not really a surprise at the moment, what with the changes in home environment:  Homeschooling a teen, wife going to work for the first time in 8 years (which I don't resent, no matter what it might look like to outsiders... It's something she wants to do, the money will be nice, and it will just take a couple of months to get accoustomed to), bought a house, and now have some "new" minor car problems.  I suppose my current issue  could be partly because of the different stressors hitting all at once, but it's probably time to get off my duff and visit the family doctor to get checked out.
